High Country Youth Ballet is proud to partner with Lees-McRae College to bring The Nutcracker ballet to Banner Elk, ​North Carolina, and the surrounding High Country area. The performance will be presented at Hayes Auditorium on the beautiful Lees-McRae College campus. Having undergone major renovations in 2017, Broyhill Theatre in ​Hayes Auditorium is a state-of-the-art performance venue designed to meet the highest standards of audio and visual technology. With comfortable seating for up to 710 people,  Hayes Auditorium is host to an array of year-round campus and community events.  Known as "The Gem of the High Country," Lees-McRae Summer Theatre has been providing high quality, professional theatre to the community and summer visitors of the area for more than three decades. This holiday season, High Country Youth Ballet and Artistic Director Kelly Perry are delighted to add the full-length version of The Nutcracker ballet to the Hayes Auditorium performance line-up. 

Join us on December 14 and 15, 2024, as dancers and performers from around the High Country take the stage in this magical holiday classic.

  • Please plan to arrive at least 15 to 30 minutes prior to the performance, giving yourself plenty of time to park.
  • If you purchased tickets online, please print or have confirmation on your phone to show the usher.
  • Please note that all online ticket sales are non-refundable.
  • Photography and recordings of the performance are strictly forbidden. 
  • Please turn off your mobile devices before the performance as their lights and sounds are a distraction to the performers and audience members.
  • Please refrain from talking or whispering during the performance. 
  • Please no standing in the aisles.
  • Please no food or beverages in the theatre.

DIRECTIONS
From Highway 421 or 321 (Boone)
  1. Take Highway 105 towards Banner Elk.
  2. Turn right onto Highway 184 which will take you directly into the Town of Banner Elk.
  3. At the traffic light in Banner Elk, turn left onto Highway 194.
  4. Parking lots will be on your right. Hayes Auditorium is on your left.
